Empire FC, backed by Bengaluru’s iconic food chain, Empire Restaurant and Hotels, delivered an impressive campaign in the BDFA Doulath Khan Memorial Knockout Tournament 2024-25, finishing as runners-up after a hard-fought final against Bangalore Phantom FC. The Bengaluru District Football Association revived the Doulath Khan Memorial Knockout Tournament after a gap of more than a decade.
The team displayed remarkable performances throughout the tournament, securing dominant victories along the way. Empire FC kicked off their journey with a 5-0 win over Modern Boys FC, followed by a 2-0 victory against Young Boys FC Bangalore. They put on another solid display in the semifinals, defeating Freedom FC 2-0 to book their place in the final.
Despite a valiant effort in the title clash, Empire FC fell short against Bangalore Phantom FC, settling for a well-earned runners-up position. The tournament was a testament to the club’s commitment to footballing excellence and its mission to perform strongly in the upcoming “C” Division league.
Coach Mahendra Mani praised the team’s fighting spirit, stating, “The players gave their all throughout the tournament, and I’m extremely proud of their performance. This experience will only make us stronger as we continue our journey in the upcoming “C” Division league.”
